Day 5 - all races were cancelledIt was a very windy day with wind gusts over 25 knots. The racing committee decided to cancel all races around 11.00hours. So after day 5 we have sailed 10 races in total and the Champions are Jan Morten Sevecke and Matthias Duewel. Day 4 - 16 june - even more wind and great sailingThe Laser 2 Class sailed with a lot of confidence in heavy conditions. Three days of sailing definitely helped the fleet to keep their masts vertical above the water. However wind gusts until 25 knots with very bumpy waves made the organization decide to call it a day after race 10 of the Europeans Laser 2. Day 3 - 15 june - a lot of wind, waves, and fun on the IJsselmeer11.00hrs the first start was made and after the second race the committee decided to go back to the harbour. After the wind was lying down a bit the laser 2 fleet sailed out again for the third race. Day 2 - 14 june - max. 8 knots wind and more than 30 degree windshiftsThe ranking changed enormously thanks to light weather and black flag disqualifications of the some of the leading boats. Day 1 - 13 june - 10/12 knots and great sailingProgramma, racing rulesPreliminary racing rules can be found on the homepage of WV Makkum (besides the peugeot logo at the bottom). http://www.wvmakkum.nl/cms/ The information guide can be downloaded here (latest version saturday 08-06-2012). download pdfHere you will find a map of the village makkum and the harbor area. download pdf 19 boats officially registered (2th june 2012)The organization is looking forward a lot to welcome the 19 boats who registered until now. During the European Championships (13 june - 17 june 2012) we will be sailing on the IJsselmeer, which is a very special location. When sailing on the IJsselmeer, prepare for the typical ‘IJsselmeer-waves’! Nowadays it is The Netherlands’ largest lake that is popular for sailing and other sports on the water, but in the past it belonged to the sea and was named ‘Zuiderzee’. Thanks to the sailing club Makkum we have been able to organize this event at one of the finest sailing locations of the Netherlands; the IJsselmeer combined with the scenic village of Makkum. |
